About the Director

Originally from the UK, Vanessa studied architecture at The Bartlett School of Architecture, London. After graduation, she worked in Paris for 3 years specialising in architecture and interior design of resort hotels. This role took her to India and Bora Bora to follow construction on site.

She worked in London for 10 years with a luxury hotel architecture company as project architect and team leader for their resort portfolio. During this time she followed projects on site through architecture and interior design specification. Vanessa used her international experience when she joined a large US firm at the inception of a new London hub office to manage projects between headquarters in Seattle and client base in Europe, Middle East and Asia.

In 2012 Vanessa relocated to Australia and established VMA in 2013. The company specialises in bespoke residential design, both new build and renovations as well interior design and fit out of private and commercial spaces. VMA is also involved in concept and strategic designs for public spaces working alongside landscape architectural firms to contribute to large scale masterplan projects with architectural interventions.

Her extensive experience has made VMA’s design style adaptable to various clients, climates, cultures, budgets and brands. A key interest of Vanessa is to tailor make each design to suit the needs and requirements of the client and relishes the challenge of transforming the design style to suit each project. Taking her clients along on the design journey with her warm and pragmatic approach results in the creation of spaces that are both beautiful and functional.
